Viggo Bendz delivers first flake varieties in Denmark

In August, Dansk Affaldsminimering in Langå became one sorting machine richer. Earlier this year, they decided to take the lead in the fight to achieve a more circular (plastic) economy. The many thousands of tons of plastic that annually visit Danish homes and end up in household waste must be recycled to a much greater extent in production if we are to live up to the 12th Sustainable Development Goal – responsible consumption and production.

It’s simple – the higher the quality, the higher the recycling rate

Dansk Affaldsminimering chose to invest in a UniSort Flake sorting unit from Steinert through Viggo Bendz A/S, the Danish distributor of the German manufacturer. The choice fell on the UniSort Flake model, as the technology could meet the high quality requirements that Dansk Affaldsminimering demanded. The unit uses modern sensor technology to separate waste material in the fraction range from 3 to 25 mm.

The new machine will initially be used to separate PP/PE fractions from general household plastics and healthcare plastic packaging.

Kim Dalsgaard, CEO of Dansk Affaldsminimering, talks about the expectations for the new flake sorter:

They are big, of course. The machine will hopefully have a significant impact on the processing and use of recycled plastic in Denmark. With the new technology, it will be much easier to meet the plastic molders’ high demands on the quality of the recyclable plastic.

At Viggo Bendz, they are also excited about the development. Poul Erik Jakobsen, owner and CEO of Viggo Bendz A/S, says:

It’s great to see how more companies and organizations are starting to adapt. In general, more thought is being given to recycling and waste sorting. Viggo Bendz will do his part and continue to provide quality solutions in this area as more people join the fight for a circular economy in Denmark.

The first flake variety… and probably not the last

The sorting unit is the first flake sorter in Denmark, but according to Poul Erik Jakobsen, it won’t be long before we see more of them around the country:

We have already received an increasing number of inquiries about our various sorting solutions – both metal and plastic. We are confident, but we’ll see what time brings.

In the meantime, Dansk Affaldsminimering looks forward to using the new machine and doing its part for a more sustainable Denmark.
